Teen Muscle Guide

About

About this site

Teen Muscle Guide is a small, independent set of guides about strength training for teenagers, written for teens and the adults who look out for them.

Who it is for

The guides are written for teenagers who are thinking about strength training, and for parents, carers and other adults who want to help them do it safely. They assume no previous knowledge. The focus throughout is on strength, health and sport, not on appearance.

Not medical advice

Everything here is general information about what public health and medical bodies say. It cannot take account of any one person's health, growth, history or sport. It does not diagnose anything, does not suggest treatments, and does not give training programmes, weights, doses or diets. For any question about your own health, an injury, or whether to start something new, talk to a doctor or another qualified health professional. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.

How it was made

The site was planned and drafted with the help of an AI system, working from documents published by U.S. public health and regulatory bodies, the National Institutes of Health, and professional medical and strength training organisations. Each guide names the documents it relies on and shows the date it was last reviewed against them.

For most of those documents, the page text was retrieved on that date and the guide was checked against it. Three professional documents, the American Academy of Pediatrics clinical reports on resistance training and on performance-enhancing substances, and the National Strength and Conditioning Association youth position statement, could not be retrieved automatically on that date, so the statements based on them reflect the published documents as the author understood them. The editorial policy explains this.

The guides have not yet been reviewed by an independent human editor or by a health professional. Until they have, read them as a careful starting point and treat the cited documents, and your own doctor, as the authority.

The illustrations and the logo were drawn for this site as simple vector graphics. They do not show real people or places.

What it does not do

  • It does not sell anything, recommend products or brands, or take advertising, affiliate links or sponsorship.
  • It does not recommend supplements or performance-enhancing drugs. The bodies it cites do not recommend them for teens either.
  • It does not give training programmes with weights, sets or repetitions. Those belong with a qualified instructor who can watch a teen train.
  • It does not promise any result, such as a certain amount of strength or a certain look.
  • It sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking scripts.

Contact

There is no contact route yet: no form, email address or phone number. If one is added later, it will be listed on this page. The site cannot answer personal health questions in any case; those belong with a doctor. The editorial policy explains how errors are handled in the meantime.
